    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for client interaction and customer service – nationally.
    • Work closely with harbor management
    • Responsible for the coordination of 40,000 container moves out of the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach on an annual basis utilizing owner operators and company drivers.
    • Further develop and enhance the strategic business plan to accomplish the established growth and profitability objectives
    • Establish best practices through Six Sigma while driving profitability through KPIs
    • Participation and interaction with senior-level Executives of our clients
    • Participate in the development and execution of contract proposals
    • Develop and maintain operations business plans to include all customer/company requirements, labor hours, equipment, facility costs, and human resource decisions to enable organization to reach goals
    • Establish, monitor and maintain productivity and quality standards, develop budget and cost controls, and focus on continuous improvement of the operation
    • Ensure operational procedures are followed for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments and handling disposition of materials
    • Review operating reports, identify and direct the resolution of operational and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
    • Responsible for financial analysis and aggressive management of operational expenses; manage the facility P&L.
    • Perform administrative activities associated with the effective management of operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving data for reports, interfacing with other functional areas, and continuous communication with customers.
    • Train and ensure all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations.
    • Monitor activities of work teams to ensure safe practices are in place and being followed at all times. Monitor building to ensure proper housekeeping is being practiced. Give guidance on safety and security issues, and interface with corporate on all issues

    Qualifications

    • 3+ years harbor drayage experience
    • Strong experience dealing with invoicing, customer service and back office activities
    • Must have experience working with owner operators and company drivers
    • Bachelors degree required, Masters degree preferred
    • 3PL Operations, Warehouse, and Transportation experience
    • Yard Management System and Transportation Management System background
